Deuterated reagent is exclusively used in the analysis of nuclear resonance mainly as organic solvent for NMR spectrometer. General deuterated reagents are very easy to volatilize, so it is necessary to seal it well for preservation.
Deuterated reagents are derived from heavy water extraction industry. The introduction of atomic bombs in the 1940s promoted the rapid development of the industry of heavy water extraction from seawater, which was gradually repurposed for high-tech R & D applications from military industry. More and more countries have mastered the heavy water extraction process, such as the United States, Germany, Switzerland, France, China, Japan, etc. However, the production process of highly purified deuterated derivatives has only mastered by Germany and the United States.
NMR instruments need a large quantity ofdeuterium reagent to avoid the interference of ordinary hydogen atoms in solvent, so as to accurately analyse the proportion of hydrogen in organic molecules. An independent nuclear magnetic discipline has been founded.
