Inorganic bases, having the largest product yield in the basic chemical industry, are remarkably versatile basic industrial raw materials, the production and consumption of which indicate a country's level of industrial development. Inorganic bases have relatively more complete business and product scale and are most promising for socialized mass manufacture in Chinese chemical industry. They include sodium carbonate and caustic soda, which are closely related to steel, non-ferrous metal smelting and other heavy industry and light industry like paper, glass, textiles, food as well as people's lives, science and culture, and thus have a significant status in the national economy.
