| ZINC RESINATE Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | Powder, clear amber lumps, or yellowish
liquid. May be acidic, basic, or neutral; soluble in
some organic solvents (ether, amyl alcohol). Combustible. | Uses | Wetting, dispersing, and hardening agent; drier
in paints, varnishes, and resins. | General Description | Colorless to amber solid. Can spontaneously heat in the presence of air and moisture. This heat may be sufficient to ignite surrounding combustible materials. Not soluble in water. ZINC RESINATE is used as a drier in paints, and as a wetting agent. | Air & Water Reactions | Highly flammable. Insoluble in water. Spontaneously heats in the presence of air and moisture. This heat may be sufficient to ignite surrounding combustible materials [AAR 1991]. | Reactivity Profile | Inorganic reducing agents, such as ZINC RESINATE, react with oxidizing agents to generate heat and products that may be flammable, combustible, or otherwise reactive. Their reactions with oxidizing agents may be violent. | Health Hazard | Fire may produce irritating and/or toxic gases. Contact may cause burns to skin and eyes. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Runoff from fire control may cause pollution. | Fire Hazard | Flammable/combustible material. May be ignited by friction, heat, sparks or flames. Some may burn rapidly with flare burning effect. Powders, dusts, shavings, borings, turnings or cuttings may explode or burn with explosive violence. Substance may be transported in a molten form at a temperature that may be above its flash point. May re-ignite after fire is extinguished. |
