ZINC RESINATE Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesPowder, clear amber lumps, or yellowish liquid. May be acidic, basic, or neutral; soluble in some organic solvents (ether, amyl alcohol). Combustible.
UsesWetting, dispersing, and hardening agent; drier in paints, varnishes, and resins.
General DescriptionColorless to amber solid. Can spontaneously heat in the presence of air and moisture. This heat may be sufficient to ignite surrounding combustible materials. Not soluble in water. ZINC RESINATE is used as a drier in paints, and as a wetting agent.
Air & Water ReactionsHighly flammable. Insoluble in water. Spontaneously heats in the presence of air and moisture. This heat may be sufficient to ignite surrounding combustible materials [AAR 1991].
Reactivity ProfileInorganic reducing agents, such as ZINC RESINATE, react with oxidizing agents to generate heat and products that may be flammable, combustible, or otherwise reactive. Their reactions with oxidizing agents may be violent.
Health HazardFire may produce irritating and/or toxic gases. Contact may cause burns to skin and eyes. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Runoff from fire control may cause pollution.
Fire HazardFlammable/combustible material. May be ignited by friction, heat, sparks or flames. Some may burn rapidly with flare burning effect. Powders, dusts, shavings, borings, turnings or cuttings may explode or burn with explosive violence. Substance may be transported in a molten form at a temperature that may be above its flash point. May re-ignite after fire is extinguished.
