| CHLOROPLATINIC ACID HEXAHYDRATE Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | orange to orange-brown powder or chunks | Uses | Dihydrogen hexachloroplatinate(IV) hexahydrate is used for the determination of potassium. It is also used for the purification of platinum by treating it with ammonium chloride flowed by heating of ammonium hexachloroplatinate with hydrogen yields elemental platinum. It also finds application in catalysis, electroplating, photography, platinum mirrors, printing for etching of zinc, producing fine color in glass and porcelain, indelible ink and microscopy. It is a precursor for the preparation of other platinum catalysts. | Uses | Chloroplatinic acid hexahydrate may be used as a platinum precursor in the preparation of ceria supported Pt catalyst, TiO2/Pt nano-composites, Pt nanoparticles impregnated porous carbon films and cadmium sulfide-Pt colloidal system. | General Description | Chloroplatinic acid hexahydrate (H2PtCl6.6H2O) is an inorganic platinum salt. Pure quadrupole resonance frequencies of Cl35 in H2PtCl6.6H2O have been evaluated by spectrophotometric investigations. | Safety Profile | Poison by
intraperitoneal route. When heated to
decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Pt
and Cl-. |
