UsesGuacetisal has the effect of delaying kinin to make bronchospasm, and has expectorant, asthma, cough, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. For the treatment of influenza, cold trachea and bronchitis, pulmonary complications, and acute and chronic respiratory catarrhal lesions with or without fever, pain and inflammation.

SynthesisGuaiacol salicylate, acetic anhydride and a catalytic amount of concentrated sulfuric acid are mixed and reacted at 60°C. It was dropped into ice brine with stirring and left to stand. The crystals were collected by filtration, washed with water until neutral, and recrystallized with ethanol to obtain Guacetisal, the melting point was 72-74.5°C, and the yield was 88%.
