| TRIPROPYLENE GLYCOL Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | Tripropylene glycol is a colorless, slightly viscous liquid. | Uses | Tripropylene glycol is made commercially as a by-product of
propylene glycol production. It is used much as the other
glycols as an intermediate in the production of ethers, esters,
and resins; as a nonvolatile solvent; and as a polyester humectant
and a plasticizer. It is not used in drugs, pharmaceuticals,
or food applications because its toxicological properties have
not been clearly defined. Industrial exposure is limited almost
entirely to direct contact with the liquid. Vapors or mists may
be encountered under unusual conditions. |
