Uses4-Benzyloxy-2(1H)-pyridone may be used for the synthesis of novel 2-pyridone derivatives. It may be used for the alkylation of the pyridine nitrogen under mild and anhydrous conditions, via reaction with n-Bu4I and KOBu-t.
