α-Methyl-D-phenylalanine is used to prepare hippuryl-α-methylphenylalanine and hippuryl-α-methylphenyllactic acid as substrates for carboxypeptidase A. It is also used in the synthesis of high affinity tachykinin NK2 receptor antagonists.
Uses
2-Methyl-D-phenylalanine is a derivative of D-Phenylalanine (P319410); the stereoisomer of L-Phenylalanine (P319415) used in the synthesis of Schaeffer’s acid analogs as important structures in tuberculostatic design. These analogs exhibit the ability to inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis type II dehydroquinase.
