AMMONIUM STEARATE Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Propertiescream or light yellow powder
UsesIn vanishing creams, in waterproofing cements.
General DescriptionWhite to yellow paste or liquid with a weak ammonia odor. May float or sink in water.
Air & Water ReactionsSlightly soluble in water.
Reactivity ProfileAMMONIUM STEARATE has weak oxidizing or reducing powers. Redox reactions can however still occur. The majority of compounds in this class are slightly soluble or insoluble in water. If soluble in water, then the solutions are usually neither strongly acidic nor strongly basic. These compounds are not water-reactive.
HazardA nuisance dust.
Health HazardNone experienced under normal conditions of use. Ingestion causes irritation of mouth and stomach. Contact with eyes causes irritation.
Fire HazardSpecial Hazards of Combustion Products: Toxic ammonia and oxides of nitrogen may form in fires.
Safety ProfileA nuisance dust. When heated todecomposition it emits toxic vapors of NH3.
