| ANTI-HUMAN ERYTHROPOIETIN Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | All Prestige Antibodies?Powered by Atlas Antibodies is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit . Anti-EPO antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry. | General Description | The gene EPO (erythropoietin) is mapped to human chromosome 7q22. In fetal cells, EPO protein is generated by the liver cells and in adults, it is produced mainly by the kidney cells. EPO is a low-molecular-weight glycoprotein hormone and a hypoxia responsive cytokine. | Biochem/physiol Actions | EPO (erythropoietin) is mainly involved in erythropoiesis (controls red blood cell volume), but also has role in angiogenesis and tissue protection. Its concentration increases in conditions, such as anemia, hypoxia, renal hypoperfusion or EPO-associated hepatoprotective signaling. |
