| Terphenyl, hydrogenated Usage And Synthesis |
General Description | Clear, oily, pale-yellow liquid with a faint odor. A mixture of numerous compounds and isomers depending on the degree and conditions of hydrogenation The 40% hydrogenated mixture has bp: 340°C, density: 1.00 g cm-3, and is insoluble in water. Used as a plasticizer and as a heat-transfer medium. Can be absorbed through the skin and by ingestion. | Reactivity Profile | Terphenyl, hydrogenated are non-flammable (flash-point 157°C for 40% hydrogenated mixture), but combustible. Resist decomposition but break down to produce acrid smoke when heated sufficiently. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. |
