| ODORINE Usage And Synthesis |
Occurrence | A constituent of the basic extract of Aglaia odorata, odorine forms colourless needles when
crystallized from C6H6H6.It is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D25 +72.6° (c
0.03, CHCl3) and gives an ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH consisting of a single absorption
maximum at 283 nm. | Occurrence | This alkaloid has been isolated from Roxburghia species. It forms colourless crystals from EtOH
and has a specific rotation of [α]D +34° (CHCl3 ). | Uses | Odorine is a chemopreventative agent inhibitor of carcinogenesis. |
