L-NIO DIHYDROCHLORIDE Usage And Synthesis
DescriptionL-NIO is a non-selective inhibitor of all NOS isoforms. The Ki values for nNOS (rat), eNOS (bovine), and iNOS (mouse) are 1.7, 3.9, and 3.9 μM, respectively. L-NIO inhibits endothelial-dependent relaxation induced by acetylcholine in rat aortic rings and hypotensive responses to acetylcholine and bradykinin.
Chemical PropertiesWhite Crystalline Solid
UsesA potent and reversible inhibitor of NO synthase of adrenal glands, brain, and vascular endothelial cells
DefinitionChEBI: L-NIO is a L-alpha-amino acid.
Biological ActivityPotent inhibitor of endothelial NO synthase (IC 50 = 500 nM). Also inhibits iNOS and nNOS. Active in vivo .
