POTASSIUM DIHYDROGEN CITRATE Usage And Synthesis
UsesA 0.05 molal solution as standard for pH scale (pH at 25° 3.776): Staples, Bates, J. Res. Natl. Bur. Stand. 73A, 37 (1969).
UsesPotassium dihydrogen citrate hydrate is used as a buffering agent and a chelating agent. It is used as an alkalizing agent in the renal function. It is found that it increases the bone density, thereby used in research experiments related to the treatment of osteoporosis.
Purification MethodsIt crystallises from H2O with a solubility of 11.5% at 100o. Dry it at 80o, or in a vacuum desiccator over Sicapent. [Beilstein 3 I 209, 3 III 336, 3 IV 402.]
