Chemical PropertiesColorless liquid; sharp odor; boils around120°C (248°F) at 30 torr; density 1.11;slightly soluble in water; miscible with alcohol and ether.
Health HazardThis substance is moderately toxic by ingestion and skin contact (Lewis 1996). Itstoxicity, however, is lower than the ethylderivative. The evidence of its carcino-genic potency is inadequate. IARC has listedthis substance as “possibly carcinogenic tohuman” (group B carcinogen) (IARC 1998).LD50 , oral (rat): ~1100 mg/kgLD50 , skin (rabbit): ~1400 mg/kg.
