Description | 4'-Aminopropiophenone is an oxygen-carrying molecule that has been shown to have genotoxic effects. It can be used as a control agent in toxicity studies. 4'-Aminopropiophenone also has locomotor activity in animals and affects the function of neurons. This compound has not yet been tested on humans, but it is suspected that it may have a similar effect on the human body. The analytical method for this compound is based on the spectrophotometric measurement of amines. The test for this compound is done by injecting a dose into an animal and measuring the concentration of creatinine sulfate in its blood sample over time with a spectrophotometer. The mixture was heated at 140 C for 3-8 h. The reaction was monitored by TLC. After the reaction period, the reaction mixture was cooled, diluted with saturated brine and extracted with dichloromethane three times. The combined organic layers were washed with three portions of saturated brine and then dried over MgSO4 and filtered. Solvent was removed under reduced pressure.
