| CHROMIUM POTASSIUM SULFATE Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | Also known as chrome alum and chrome potash alum, CrK(S04)2·12H20 is dark, violet-red crystals that are efflorescent and soluble in water. Derived by reducing potassium dichromate in dilute sulfuric acid with sulfurous acid. Used in tanning(chrome-tan liquors), textile dye(mordant), photography (fixing bath)and ceramics.
| Chemical Properties | Chromium potassium sulfate is a crystalline compound whose color may range from violet-red to black | Uses | Tanning (chrome-tan liquors), textile dye (mordant), photography (fixing bath), ceramics. | General Description | The higher the pH more is the chromium (III) (crystal growth suppressor) adsorbed, on the surface of potassium sulfate crystal powder which is suspended in saturated solutions. | Hazard | Toxic by ingestion. | Safety Profile | Mutation data reported.
Questionable carcinogen. When heated to
decomposition it emits toxic fumes of K2O.
