| Borane-trimethylamine complex Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | white crystalline powder | Uses | Reducing agent for the preparation of plate-type palladium-zinc oxide catalys, reagent for chemical vapor generation and spectrometry determination of elements using amineboranes and cyanotrihydroborate(III) reagents. Catalyst for regioselective reductive opening of benzylidene acetal glycosides and polarity reversal. | Purification Methods | It is sublimed using equipment described in Burg and Schlesinger [J Am Chem Soc 59 780 1937I]. Its vapour pressure is 86mm at 100o. It forms colourless hexagonal crystals varying from needles to short lumps, which are slightly soluble in H2O (1.48% at 30o), EtOH (1%), hexane (0.74%) but very soluble in Et2O, *C6H6 and AcOH. It is stable at 125o. [Burg & Schlesinger J Am Chem Soc 59 780 1937, Brown et al. J Am Chem Soc 104 325 1942, Beilstein 4 IV 140.] |
