Allyl phenoxyacetate Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesAllyl phenoxyacetate is a clear, colorless to yellowish liquid with a green, sweet, herbal, fruity odor with nuances of galbanum and pineapple.
It is prepared by reaction of phenoxyacetic acid alkali salts with allyl halogenide and used in technical perfumery.
OccurrenceHas apparently not been reported to occur in nature.
UsesAllyl Phenoxyacetate is a synthetic flavoring agent that is a stable, colorless to light yellow liquid of heavy fruit note odor. it should be stored in glass or tin containers. it is used in pineapple, quince, and fruit flavors with applications in candy and beverages at 1–3 ppm.
PreparationBy direct esterification in benzene solution.
DefinitionChEBI: Allyl phenoxyacetate is a monocarboxylic acid.
Flammability and ExplosibilityNotclassified
Safety ProfileModerately toxic by ingestion and skin contact. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. See also ALLK COMPOUNDS.
